Through these years of research, writing, curating, community organising, and civic action, we have continued to feel our way through the cracks between ideal and reality — moving between culture and politics, emotion and action, the global and the local. Again and again, in uncertainty and impasse, we have learned to keep moving forward.
Beginning from the Longest Night
The winter solstice approaches — the shortest day, the longest shadow. Perhaps it is in the darkness that we can most clearly see which emotions are calling us toward action. Perhaps this is where we can practise, together: move emotion into action.
— 2026 Series Programme: Beginning from the Longest Night
Beginning from the Longest Night is an annual programme combining research, action, and public dialogue. It asks how, in a rapidly changing world, emotion can be transformed into strength, knowledge can move toward action, and care can become a concrete and visible public practice.
Facing displacement, conflict, cultural rupture, emotional unease, and the challenges of democratic society, we hope to build a cross-disciplinary, shareable, and action-oriented public space — where people from different backgrounds can think together, experiment together, and move forward together.
The programme unfolds across three dimensions: Knowledge, Embodiment, and Society — through lectures, conversations, action workshops, collective field learning, and story translation. Themes include migration and borders, cultural memory, human rights and civic education, ecological wisdom, healing, and resilience. At its core is an emphasis on the movement and interaction between understanding, feeling, and acting.
In 2026, we will open the invitation more widely — to the public and to practitioners — to continue experimenting in the cracks, to find connection across borders, and to let action happen in the company of one another.
“The unity of knowing and doing” — let knowledge flow, let the body be present, let action take form.
也能一起練習:move emotion into action

Hung Fei Wu(Citing Bar Facilitator)
A curator and researcher, she has served as Artistic Director of Benshi Art since 2019. In 2023, she initiated Citing Bar, a platform exploring feminist environmental humanities, dedicated to expanding diverse forms of knowledge, ecological wisdom, and worldviews through interdisciplinary and cross-cultural collaboration—channeling these transformative energies into a world entangled in multiple crises and conflicts. Since 2024, she has been developing the munus project, which delves into the ideas and practices of “contemporary healing.” Drawing on the concepts of immunity and community, as well as reading groups and collective feminist methodologies, the project explores alternative understandings of health and healing in a world marked by conflict and trauma. It also seeks to experiment with non-conventional exhibition-making practices that approach “care as an event.” Since 2023, she has been a regular contributor to Artist Magazine, writing for the column “Ecofeminist Art.”
