Hey there! I’m Hsiao-Chi Chu, a cross-disciplinary practitioner with a focus on art, cultural heritage, migration, refugees, and humanitarian development.

I specialise in bridging humanitarian fieldwork and curatorial practice — building platforms, archives, and cross-regional networks that connect displaced communities’ cultural knowledge with the systems that need to hear it.

FIELDWORK, ECOLOGICAL RESILIENCE & HUMANITARIAN PRACTICE
(Research-Led Development & Climate Justice Interventions)

2024.11 – 2025.01 | Portfolio Manager, World Vision Taiwan (WVT)
Overseeing climate-resilience portfolios in Bangladesh and Indonesia, I aligned field realities with global strategy and UN partnerships to ensure spatial justice. Using MEAL frameworks, I synthesised fieldwork data into actionable insights, directly addressing intersectional vulnerabilities in climate-stressed environments.

2024.04 – 2024.09 | Country Director, Eswatini Country Office (TFCF)
Directing climate-resilient agricultural and WASH projects, I embedded indigenous ecological knowledge into recovery frameworks. By facilitating community-led programs centered on land ethics, I led multi-sector interventions reaching 6,800+ children across 50 communities, seamlessly integrating culturally grounded care with sustainable livelihood regeneration.

2022.11 – 2024.03 | Program Manager / Supervisor, Cambodia Country Office (TFCF)
Investigating vulnerabilities along the Mekong River, I addressed hydro-ecological collapse driven by transboundary damming and climate change. Partnering with WaterAid, I co-developed community water initiatives to advance spatial justice, while supervising MEAL functions to trace socio-ecological impacts and strengthen organizational learning.

2020.12 – 2024.09 | Specialist, International Development Division (TFCF HQ)
Synthesizing translocal fieldwork data from Asia and the Middle East, I shaped global strategic frameworks. Additionally, I curated the 2021 TFCF International Film Festival to elevate marginalized narratives and developed the Global Strategy Module, bridging academic theory with frontline realities across seven country offices.

2022.03 – 2022.04 | Programme Intern (Job Shadowing) of CAM – Programme Implementation, Save the Children Cambodia (SCI)
Conducting spatial mapping and desk reviews of geographic vulnerabilities, I informed the overarching Country Strategy by aligning localized needs with structural interventions. I also contributed to technical capacity assessments, supporting evidence-based decision-making in highly complex humanitarian contexts.

2021.07 – 2022.05 | Research Lead (Volunteer), Refugee Education for Equal Employment Opportunities (REFEO), UK
Coordinating multi-stakeholder research, I bridged academic findings with actionable social repair for displaced populations. By mapping structural resources, I developed pathways for asylum seekers navigating the UK shortage occupation list, effectively transforming theoretical research into direct advocacy and systemic intervention.

2020.01 – 2020.07 | Curatorial & Program Assistant (Work Placement), COUNTERPOINTS ARTS, London, UK
Curating participatory arts initiatives, I explored borders, displacement, and the “living archives” of migrant communities. I co-coordinated the Who Are We project at Tate Modern and the 2020 London Refugee Week, successfully fostering translocal networks between London and Taiwan to amplify displaced voices globally.
